Don’t cry for Bas

Basdeo Panday has listened to their mantra and decided to go in peace. Why are they now crying that they are not accepting his resignation, when his doctors have advised him to do so because of his failing health?

Basdeo Panday has articulated that he is leaving politics to enter a “new kind of politics, a higher politics.” This is the politics that Winston Dookeran has been advocating. Having faithfully followed Mr Panday for more than a quarter of a century, Mr Dookeran must again follow him and resign his office in the UNC to create that vehicle for the “new kind of politics” that Panday wishes to embrace.

It will be a fitting tribute to Mr Panday who has given so much to the politics of our country and which he could not find in the UNC.
