Kavita scores with ‘old’ song

Her coarse but melodious voice was suited for this selection and she took the first prize of $400 on the Mastana Bahar taping at the Gulf City auditorium, La Romaine on Thursday evening.

Second prize went to Salana Ali while the musician Sanjeev Budhooram placed third and singer Shekar Ramlal placed fourth.

These four will participate in the semi-final programme in July.

Meanwhile, the Mastana bandwagon rolled into Raju Trace, Penal, on Sunday morning where the auditions for the seventh preliminary show were held.

Scores of performers displayed their talent but those getting the nod are: Keith Ramsamooj, Vanessa and Stephanie Lutchman, Narendra Maharaj, Andy Rampersad, Samantha Ramcharan, Reshma’s School of Dance, Aanika Seecharan, Shiva Shankar School of Dance, Rohan Ramdeo and Michael Seerattan. These performers will meet at the Gulf City Shopping Complex on Thursday at 5.30 pm.

The next audition is scheduled for Dekko Entertainment Centre, Naparima Mayaro Road, New Grant on Sunday at 10 am.

The Mastana crew will be marking Mother’s Day by honouring the mothers in the audience.
