Dumas gets ‘licks’ in San Juan

Dumas had only moments before, wrapped up a press meeting when he was approached by PNM activists of the area who wanted to speak with him. Residents have complained that the area had no pavements and students of a nearby primary school usually have to walk in the streets to and from school and an unfinished sporting complex on Shakeer Court, left “much to be desired.”

Lydia Joseph, who described herself as “a strong PNM activist” and youth motivator, told Newsday, construction of a sporting complex began over 20 years ago and the partial structure has over the years encouraged only vagrancy and prostitution. Joseph said, there were two kindergartens on Mohammed Trace and when it rained the street usually flooded causing parents to either wait hours until the water subsided or pass through the dirty water to reach their children.
