Only one of eight mortuary bodies claimed
In an interview, a mortician said the relative of Carol Ramoutar came forward but no commitment was given about burial. Forty-six-year-old Ramoutar died at the Thoracic Surgical Unit on April 1.
Eight other bodies, including two which have not been identified by Police are yet to be claimed. He said the Friendly Society may have to take responsibility for burying them since they have been there for some time.
Morticians have complained about the smell caused by the decomposing bodies which have been at the mortuary for more than a month.
The Friendly Society has been contacted about handling the burials. The morticians hope that this will start next week.
