Tobago murder victim for burial today

George-Roberts’ burnt body was found two Wednesdays ago in a car near the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet.

The body was identified last Friday by the victim’s father Reynold George who reportedly had to be hospitalised after he made the identification.

Although family members were still too distraught to speak to the media yesterday, a close friend of the family said that they “had been shaken really badly” over the horrible way in which George-Roberts met her end.

Yesterday, a senior police officer told Newsday they were still carrying out investigations and interviewing several persons.

The source added that no new leads have been obtained since the release of a relative who was initially assisting lawmen in their inquiries.

Scarborough’s Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.

In an unrelated incident, a man will be charged in connection with an incident in Scarborough on Monday in which a police officer was assaulted and robbed of his service revolver.

The weapon was subsequently recovered after the man’s arrest.

The incident occured when the man was reportedly cautioned by the officer, who was dressed in plain clothes, about his conduct.

The man retaliated by throwing stones at the officer and a scuffle ensued with the officer being relieved of his weapon.
