Drillers impress in Supligen basketball

In the first match that featured two Second Division teams, T&T Elite got a 81-78 victory over Trailblazers. In fact, the match was so exciting that in the final four minutes T&T Elite finished the match with four players because the other five on the teamlist were fouled-out. Even with a depleted team Trailblazers could not find a way to deny T&T Elite victory. Trailblazers led the first quarter 15-13 but from the half-time it was all T&T Elite with scores of 34-29, 56-55 and 81-78. In the feature match, it was all Worrell despite four fouls and six minutes to play, the six-foot six-inch centre, who played Celtics, National Flour Mills and Detour Shak Attack last year, proved too much for Forum, who gained promotion to the Second Division last year.

Drillers, a Port-of-Spain team based at the Port-of-Spain Public Courts and coached by former WNBA player, Pietra Gay, the TT national team captain, took command of the match with a 31-20 first quarter lead and 59-46 at the half-way stage. The Zone’s 2006 season started on April 30, with 18 clubs laying in three divisions — Men’s First and Second; and Women. Matches are played on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
