Kitwaroo slams second century
Kitwaroo, who hit a polished 102 in the second round, made 130 as Clarke Rochard piled up a tournament-high 261 for six wickets against the hapless Diego Martin Boys Government at PowerGen ground in Penal last Wednesday.
Shane Arjoon chipped in with 38 not out for Clarke Rochard. Kitwaroo earned his fourth consecutive “Man-of-the-Match” award.
In their turn at the crease, Diego Martin Boys were bowled out for a meagre 31 from 24 overs, with Arjoon, Randy Narine and Omardath Nandlal each taking two wickets.
Guayaguayare RC continued their unbeaten run with their fourth consecutive victory against Rancho Quemado Government at Kennedy Park, Diamond Village.
Batting first, Guayaguayare made 155, with Keron Duncan and Kerneal Hagley, the main contributors with 29 each.
David Dawson took three for 28 for Rancho Quemado, who were bowled out for 109 in 25 overs, with the consistent Chris Moore getting 49.
Brian Putues (3 for 23), Kevon Nicholas (two for 25) and Jerome Valentine (two 19) were the main destroyers for Guayaguayare. Putues of Guayaguayare was named “Man-of-the-Match” having also made 18 runs.
At Inshan Ali Park in Preysal, Sangre Grande Hindu posted an easy victory over Rochard Douglas Presbyterian, coasting to its target of 114 for the loss of four wickets, with “Man-of-the-Match” Stephen Sooklal continuing his excellent form with 59 not out.
Batting first, Rochard Douglas made 113 for eight with Amit Badree scoring 69 not out. Shaquille Katwaroo (three for 12) and Randy Ramlogan (three for 32) were the main bowlers for Sangre Grande.
At NCC ground, Couva, Mayaro Government made 75 for three, replying to Montrose Government’s 73 all out, to post their second victory of the competition. “Man-of-the-Match” Ronell Arthur had a good all-round performance for Mayaro, with 23 runs and two wickets for nine runs.
Topping the standings after four rounds are Guayaguayare RC with 12 points from four victories. Clarke Rochard and Sangre Grande are tied for second with nine points from three wins. Mayaro are next on seven points followed by Rancho Quemado, six, Montrose, three, Rochard Douglas, one, and Diego Martin, without a point.
Fifth round fixtures to be played today: Rochard Douglas vs Montrose at Inshan Ali Park; Sangre Grande Hindu vs Guayaguayare at Mafeking; Mayaro vs Diego Martin at Squadron Ground; and Rancho Quemado vs Clarke Rochard at PowerGen Ground.
