Opposition Leader calls for probe of PM

The two letters, dated yesterday, were premised on the statements of the PM, AG, Mc Nicolls and Chief Justice Sat Sharma.

Persad-Bissessar stated that “justice and transparency demands that you direct any inquiry into the conduct of the honourable Prime Minister, Attorney General and Chief Magistrate, and carry out a proper investigation and proffer appropriate charges as your investigations warrant.”

Her request stems from recent moves by the Prime Minister to impeach Sharma after complaints from Mc Nicolls that he tried to influence the outcome of the Basdeo Panday integrity trial.

Sharma in turn filed a complaint to the Judicial and Legal Service Commission about a land deal in which Mc Nicolls was involved.
