School library in semi-darkness
I am a student of one of the higher forms, and a patron of the library. It has become unbearable for me to visit the library because of poor lighting.
My classmates and I who frequent this avenue for research on a regular basis have been bombarded with strained eyes and severe headaches from reading the acquired material, which is necessary for our studies. The louvers (windows) are clamped shut and cannot open to bring more light into the area.
From what we have seen, this problem with the lighting began last term, whereby one pair of the flourescent bulbs blew, and has now escalated to five and a half pairs of these floursecent bulbs.
When the library staff were questioned, they informed us that several inquiries were made and also, the librarian had spoken to the principal. The response given to them was that the necessary bulbs had to be ordered. We respect the principal for taking note of the matter, but seriously, does it take two-odd months to acquire bulbs?
The period of time taken to replace these bulbs has aroused feelings of neglect among the student body by the school body. Are they not responsible for the betterment of us?
I would like to implore anyone from the Ministry of Education, since no one has yet tackled the problem here, to come to the aid of us, the students, who are trying to make the school a better place or should we just surrender and let it go to the dogs?
