DPP warns media over coverage

The release which was signed by Deputy DPP Carla Brown-Antoine said it noted with “great concern” the appearance in the printed media of several articles and other programmes broadcast on national media with respect to allegations of attempts by the Chief Justice Satnarine Sharma to improperly influence the decision in the recently concluded trial of former prime minister Basdeo Panday.

“Of particular concern is the publication of purported extracts of statements which are alleged to form part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by assistant Commissioner of Police Wellington Virgil into this matter,” the release ended.
