Koury case yet to start
State attorney George Busby, who stood in for Karl Hudson-Phillip QC, told Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes that 12 further statements were submitted to the defence. Busby said the defence was yet to receive 14 more statements and asked that the State be given one more day to report on the filing of the documents.
Defence attorney Owen Hinds Jr, who held for senior counsel Pamela Elder, had no objections to the date being extended.
The five men accused of Koury’s murder are Kaleb Neville-Donaldson of Rockley Vale, Tobago; Terry Moore also of Tobago; Robert Franklyn a former police officer of Laventille; Sean James of Kelly Street in Tunapuna and Jerome Murray of Mason Hall, Tobago.
Koury, 38, was snatched from his businessplace in Macoya on September 23, 2005, and his headless body found days later in some bushes by villagers in Caparo.
Neville-Donaldson was represented by Hinds Jr, while attorney Afreen Mohammed-Khan represented James. The matter was adjourned to May 25.
