Cops probe baby’s death
A police report stated doctors have been unable to offer an explanation as to what caused the death of baby Adrian. Detectives were awaiting the results of an autopsy which was scheduled for late yesterday to determine which course their investigation would take.
According to reports, Adrian was taken to the SFGH yesterday by relatives after he began vomiting continuously.
The relatives told police the child started vomiting on Tuesday night after drinking a bottle of milk. Baby Adrian has four other siblings aged between two months and eight years.
Sources said around 2 am yesterday, the child arrived at the SFGH. The child, police investigations revealed, had a history of medical complications. Shortly after the child’s birth, he underwent emergency surgery after suffering complications to his appendix and lungs. Baby Adrian was also an out-patient of the Siparia Health Centre.
The investigators said they are not ruling out foul play in the child’s death. Sources said a dead worm was found in the child’s nostrils shortly after he died. Yesterday, the relatives of the child, aged 28 and 25, were questioned at length by police.
Statements were subsequently recorded. Siparia CID officers are continuing investigations.
