FOOTBALL FEVER IN TT

There will be no sitting of the House of Representatives tomorrow and no Senate next Tuesday because of World Cup.

In anticipation of a TT victory over England today, elected MPs are hoping to join Trinbagonians in victory celebrations around the country after TT/England match. If this country wins, the jubilation is expected to go straight into tomorrow, the day on which the House of Representatives normally meets. The House would next meet on Friday 23rd.

Next Tuesday, the day on which the Senate usually sits, is the TT/Paraguay match. And Government which sets the agenda for Parliament, recognises that the nation and Senators would hardly have legislative matters on their minds. Therefore the Senate would not meet until Tuesday 27.

One MP stated that he not seen that kind of spirit in the country in a long time. Several ministries, such as the Ministry of Legal Affairs, printed Soca Warriors T-shirts for their staff to wear yesterday.
