Indian Idol stars for TTshow

The show in TT takes place at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya on Saturday at 7 pm. Topping the cast of singers are Amanat Ali, Aneek Dhar and Raja Hassan. Child star Divakar Sharma, 11, who was born blind, is also making the trip.

According to the promoter of the event, Mahendra Persad, the Zee TV stars are very popular in the western countries as they have been performing for sold-out audiences in the US and UK.

“It is amazing how these young people can hold the attention of huge audiences with their songs,” he said.

He noted that while none of them are playback singers they are able to deliver the Bollywood hits as perfectly as the original singers. Tickets for the show in TT are almost sold out — the capacity at Centre of Excellence is more than 12,000. The overall winner is Aneek Dhar who is from the Lake Gardens suburb of south Kolkata and is a student of Nava Nalanda High School. During his free time, he plays cricket and listens to music. His favourite personality is Sonu Nigam He lists music as his first love.

The other finalists who will be appearing on the show are Poonam Yadav, Sumedha Karmahe, Mussarat Abbas, Mauli Dave, Harpreet Deol, Junaid Sheikh, Joy Chakraborty, Abhijeet Kosambi Nirupama Dey, Apurva Shah, and Rimi Dhar

The most popular female in the lot is Poonam who is originally from Lucknow, India. She comes from an underprivileged family and lives with her mother, who brought her up. Her father passed away while her mother was in the second month of pregnancy.

Poonam described her emotional encounters with life during her upbringing, and her struggles, and credits those early experiences for her determination to be tough.

She attended Sanskrit Pathshala Kanya Inter College in Lucknow. At the age of 26, Yadav left home for Mumbai to participate in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007.
