Pandays spending Christmas in London

Panday was accompanied by his wife Oma, and daughters Mikela and youngest daughter Vastala.

The Opposition leader will spend three weeks with daughters Nicola, who is a sales manager and eldest daughter Niala who is a nurse living in Scotland.

Before his departure, Panday issued a press release to comment on the findings of the Lord Mustill Tribunal report.

According to Panday, the findings of the report have vindicated the position taken by the Opposition UNC Alliance that the independence of the Judiciary was interfered with. According to the release, the findings bring into focus questions relating to the future of independent and impartial justice in Trinidad and Tobago.

“The Opposition was therefore correct in calling upon the government to have appointed a full and open public Commission of Inquiry into all the facts and circumstances concerning this matter.”

The Mustill report released last week, resulted in President George Maxwell Richards revoking the suspension of Chief Justice Sat Sharma, paving the way for him to return to office.

The report cleared CJ Sharma of allegations levied against him by Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls
