Caricom leaders are here

Caricom leaders will meet in caucus at the Hyatt before the opening and meet with Obama or Harper on Saturday morning before the plenary sessions begin.

Trade and Industry Minister Mariano Browne welcomed Guyana President Bharat Jagdeo at the red carpet entrance of the Hyatt at 2 pm. At 2.10 pm, St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas entered the Hyatt, followed by his Bahamas counterpart Hubert Ingraham, at 2.50.

They were greeted by Browne and Agriculture Minister Arnold Piggott. Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow, one of the keynote speakers at today’s opening, entered six minutes later.

Dressed in a short-sleeved shirt, long pants and a pair of sandals, Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer arrived at the Hyatt 15 minutes later. At 4.40 pm, St Lucian Prime Minister Stephenson King entered, amid a barrage of media personal and was welcomed by Information Minister Neil Parsanlal.

The Prime Minister arrived later at the hotel and met briefly with his Caricom counterparts.
