Joe Public regain top spot in TT Pro League

With the result, Joe Public have a tally of 41 points from 20 matches, two more than reigning champs San Juan Jabloteh while Caledonia AIA, who have a match in hand, is third on 37 points.

Connection is in fourth spot on 34 points, the same as the impressive Ma Pau, but Connection hold a superior goal difference (plus-19 to Ma Pau’s plus-10).

Defender Keion Goodridge put Joe Public in front after 19 minutes of action before St Kitts/Nevis’ Gerrard Williams tied the scores for Connection in the 79th but another defensive midfielder, Kareem Young, notched the winner in the 83rd.

The other Round Two Match Day Eleven, will be staged today with United Petrotrin and Defence Force vying for the sixth and final spot in the Big Six competition, starting later this month — which determines both the league and Big Six winners.

Petrotrin will oppose third-placed Caledonia AIA in the latter of back-to-back matches at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva from 7 pm, while two hours earlier, Defence Force will square off against Tobago United.

And FC South End and St Ann’s Rangers, two teams with no prospects of advancing to the Big Six, will face each other at Marabella from 6 pm.

These three remaining Round Two Match Day Eleven matches were brought forward by 24 hours due to a pair of CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage matches which will be held in Marabella this week. Tomorrow, Jabloteh will host DC United while Connection will host Pumas UNAM on Wednesday.
