Fire near NP Sealots
The fire originated in the hull of an abandoned ship in the shipyard of a private salvaging company located at the back of the National Petroleum plant.
The blaze reportedly started about noon while workers were doing welding which was part of the work for the expansion of the Port of Port-of-Spain when they observed smoke billowing out of the hull of the vessel.
The Fire Service was contacted to extinguish the fire and it was brought under control. Fire officials reported no injuries and the extent of the damage could not be given yet.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
