Allyson will be remembered
When I first heard the name Allyson Hezekiah, back then, I was a young man just out of secondary school, I was very impressed by her presentations.
She will always be “fondly” remembered for the morning televison magazine programme, Community Dateline, which was aired on week day mornings between 11 am and 12 noon on TTT, back then, the only television station in Trinidad and Tobago.
Allyson’s programme attracted a wide and varied audience from politicians to the ordinary man on the street. Allyson will also be remembered as a commentator for many Carnival events/shows held at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.
She was also a Master of Ceremonies for many local and cultural events in Trinidad and Tobago, one of them being the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition, who she co-hosted with Phil Simmons on many occasions.
After the closure of Trinidad and Tobago Television (TTT), the Government Information Services opened up channels 4 and 16, the popular magazine programme was reintroduced as “10 to 12 with Allyson”, again a very informative morning programme.
One of Allyson’s well-remembered interviews was when she spoke with the late Dr Eric Williams, a well put together presentation.
My fondest memories of Allyson is when she invited me to the studios at Lady Young Road, Morvant to chat about a close and dear friend also deceased then Godfrey Sealy, one of my most memorable experiences knowing Allyson.
Allyson your work on earth has been completed, may you now rest in peaceful bliss in the arms of the heavenly Father.
