Man shot dead, identified

The father of a two-year-old daughter died while undergoing treatment at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after he and his accomplices were pursued by police and a shootout ensued.

Reports indicated at about 10 pm on May 20, officers responded to a report of a vehicular theft in the Woodbrook area.

As officers arrived at the scene, the suspects allegedly fled in a white 323 Mazda car and were pursued and the vehicle intercepted near the ice factory on Ariapita Avenue.

It is alleged that the men began shooting at police, who returned fire.
