Curfew causes havoc with night events

At least one event, Yorke Promotions third annual Independence All Inclusive was cancelled outright. Ticket-holders were asked to return to ticket outlets with their tickets for a refund.

Eastman and Associates, who were expected to stage “Swan Lake” and “Fantasy on Ice” performed by the Russian Ballet of Ice group, issued a statement yesterday on the event. Three performances were supposed to be staged at Queen’s Hall, Port-of-Spain tomorrow at 8 pm and Thursday at 4.30 pm for children and a final show at 8.30 pm.

Instead, two shows will be held at Queens Hall, Port-of-Spain from 4 pm on each day. Children will be allowed to attend the show on both days at half the price of the $500 adult ticket.

Other events holders stated they expected to meet with committees to decide the fate of their events.

Entertainment spots made the decision to close their doors earlier than usual. MovieTowne officials said their cinemas in Port-of-Spain and Chaguanas will be closed at 8 pm. This closing hour will remain in effect until further notice.

An official at Caribbean Cinemas 8 stated they were awaiting word from mall management to decide on their closing times. When contacted, an employee at Trincity Mall said the mall will close at 6 pm until the state of emergency is over.
