Leonore is Miss Central Trinidad Queen

She won $6000, jewelry courtesy Savi’s Jewellers of Couva and dinner for two from Touch and Taste Restaurant among several other prizes.

An elated and visibly surprised Singh said that she never expected to win the pageant. She said that she entered the competition mainly for the experience. An accomplished steel pan player and mini mart owner, Singh said, “I am extremely happy and feel proud to represent the people of Couva.” She added that preparing for this show was one of the most enjoyable experiences of her life.

Second runner-up in the show was Tia Toby who was sponsored by Deja Vous and who also won the prize for the Spirit of Carnival, while the first runner-up was Renee Brown sponsored by Ramken Contractors Limited.

Brown also copped the prize for Miss Intelligence. Isha Thomas sponsored by the Couva Tabaquite Talparo Regional Corporation was declared Miss Elegance. Coordinator of the pageant, Marva Lewis, said she was extremely pleased with the show this year and thanked the sponsors and called on the corporate entity to get more involved in the show for 2014.

She said that the show had outgrown the facilities at the Couva Carpark and next year consideration should be given to a new venue. Lewis who has been involved in this pageant for more than ten years said, “we do not only prepare the delegates for the show but we help create young women of substance by boosting their self esteem and confidence levels and enhancing their social skills.”

Ramchand Rajbal Maharaj, chairman of the Couva Carnival Committee congratulated the contestants and thanked all stakeholders for making the 2013 show a highly successful one.
