Man, 30, shot dead
In the latest killing, Moruga police on Saturday night responded to reports of explosions at La Lune Village and discovered Gonzales’ bullet-riddled body inside his home. Residents reported that at about 9 pm, they heard four explosions. Uncertain of what the loud noises were they contacted police and later learnt that the sounds were gunshots.
Police investigators said the body was found in the living room with gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.
Acting Cpl Mohammed, of the Moruga Police Station together with officers from Homicide Bureau (South) visited the scene.
Police said they do not have a motive for the killing.
This is the case for seven other murders of Moruga residents who were killed in different areas since July. On July 6 at Indian Walk (near Princes Town ) 17-year-old Tylon Dyer, a student of Moruga Secondary School, was gunned down at his father’s welding shop. Police reports are the driver of a silver Nissan Tiida pulled up in front the shop, two men exited the vehicle covering their faces with bandanas and opened fire. He died on the scene.
Six days later on July 12, a passer-by at Penal Rock Road, Moruga, found Akiel Thomas, 28, of Lengua Road, Indian Walk, on the roadside nursing gunshot wounds to the head. He was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following day while warded at the Intensive Care Unit.
His body was found a short distance away from where police discovered the burnt remains of Francis ‘‘Ken’’ Sampson, 59, aka Cheapman, on July 23, last year.
Sampson, a father of three of Bois Jean Jean, worked as a lorry loader with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
Four days after Thomas’ death, on July 17, police discovered the partially decomposed body of Clyde “Balls” Johnson, 30, inside his vehicle on a chicken farm at Penal Rock Road. He was shot multiple times to the head and his body was found slumped over the steering wheel of his white Kia van.
On July 25 last , Keron Adams, 18, of Fyzabad, was at his workplace in Bois Jean Jean, Moruga, when bandits shot him. The labourer was shot dead trying to save the life of an unidentified child who was in the line of fire from bandits who were robbing a business place. The killing continued at Fifth Company, where a relative discovered the bullet-riddled body of private for hire (PH) taxi driver Narsingh Ramlochan, 45, inside his own home on July 28. He was the father of one.
On August 9, two masked men stormed into the home of Lennox Roach, 35, at Edward Trace, Basse Terre Village, planassed his girlfriend Allana Mohammed, 36, and shot him about the body.
He died on the scene. Another victim Fazir Mohammed, 45, of Nayyar Avenue, St Mary’s Village, was shot and killed on August 16 at his home. He worked as a checker at the Princes Town Regional Corporation.
