Jones confirmed as Public Service head

It said Jones took up the post on Monday. Newsday exclusively reported on the new appointment in yesterday’s edition. The OPM said Jones has been employed in the Public Service for over three decades and holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine and Cavehill Campuses, respectively.

It said Jones has, “previous experience working at the Office of the Prime Minister in the central administration of as a Public Management Consultant for a period of eight (8) years”.

Jones was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health for a period of five (5) years before serving as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development since 2011. While Mendez was publicly announced as the new Head of the Public Service in August, she was in fact acting in the post and had not been substantively appointed, Communications Minister Maxie Cuffie said yesterday
