Garlin gets $.15M Meukow Cognac

Garlin received the liquid treasure from Sonia Garcia, managing director of Amera Marketing and Distribution at the launch of Meukow at Aria Lounge, Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, last Tuesday.

Standing next to Meukow’s president Phillipe Coste, Garlin did a verse of extempo about his humble beginning in Arima and is now holding a bottle of Cognac worth $150,000; all to the amusement of his audience.

Coste paid tribute to Amera Marketing and Distribution for the vision and commitment of bringing Meukow to Trinidad, “When Sonia told me we were having a launch I never expected such a lavish affair. You do things on a grand scale here.” Coste thanked everyone for coming out to support the brand and said he will be coming back to Trinidad and Tobago.Garcia said Amera Marketing and Distribution saw a demand for a new cognac in the market and acted upon it. Studies have shown that in the last five years brandy has become very popular in our region so they went in search of a brand and found one well established in the Cognac region of France.

Meukow was already cemented in the European culture.

The 1862 Garlin received is very special and named after the year in which Meukow was started in France when two brothers left Russia to supply the Tsar with cognac.

With his wife Fay Ann standing stage side, Garlin performed for just about an hour at the launch with his fans dancing and singing along. Also making appearances were Terri Lyons, Swappi, College Boi Jesse and a special by Sekon Sta with Jason Williams as master of ceremonies.
