Patrons host ‘QED TT’ at Queen’s Hall
The event on Sunday will feature tenors, Raymond Edwards, Edward Cumberbatch and Nigel Floyd who have joined together in a group called Quite Exquisitely Done (QED).
The funds raised will go toward the NGO’s bursaries which benefits students of, “various genres of the performing arts,” a release said.
The first bursary awarded is, “dedicated to the memory of past chairman and founding member of Patrons, Margaret Walcott and is awarded to the tertiary level student who, after interview and adjudication by an esteemed panel is deemed the winner.
A second bursary, named after its supporter, renowned international performer, Neil Latchman is awarded to support training for a young singer.” The NGO was established under the Hall’s Board of Management in 1986, to provide fund raising for the hall, “as well as engage in other cultural developmental activities and promote programmes in the Performing Arts for the benefit of the threatre- going audience.” The NGO became an autonomous body that operated independently of the board, however.
The NGO also hosts other fund-raising events such as its annual Barbecue in the Gardens and its Parang Lime.
As the Patrons of Queen’s Hall get ready to celebrate its 30th anniversary in October, its signature event for the year QED TT in Concert, will be presented from 6 pm.
