Mother asking for fire victim Paris
Shelbourne, Scott’s daughter, was also burnt in the fire and is at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Port-ofSpain General Hospital .
Scott told Newsday yesterday that Shelbourne has been asking for Paris .
“When I went to visit her, she still had a lot of tubes in her nose and mouth but she is alert and knows who is around her,” Scott said .
“All morning she is trying to move her lips to ask for Paris. But I keep telling her I don’t know. I asked her if she knows where Paris is and she tried to turn her head in a slow motion to say ‘no’.” She added, “I really thought Akilah knew we did not get Paris out of the house. The nurse and the doctors walked us outside and told us not to tell her anything about Paris since they fear the news may send her into a coma.” Scott indicated that two years ago Shelbourne suffered a miscarriage in the third trimester of her pregnancy .
Paris, a student of the Sacred Heart RC Primary School, was her only child .
“I had love that child so much. It is really hard to deal with this .
I can’t stop bawling for the child. She was a loving and intelligent child. I didn’t mind the house burnt to ground, but the child did not have to die in this manner. I am living in the same street and I couldn’t even go into the house to help her .
An autopsy is expected to be performed at the Forensics Sciences Center in St James today .
Paris was at home at about 4.40 am on Saturday when residents noticed fire coming from the structure .
They alerted the Fire Service department and units from Wrightson Road Fire Headquarters and Belmont Fire Station responded to the call .
