Ultimate Ninja Warrior coming to TT

Like other Ninja Warrior Challenge competitions throughout the world, the Trinidad and Tobago version is modelled after the original Japanese event and contains segments of other spin-offs from around the world.

Like the popular American Ninja Warrior television show the local competitors will battle an obstacle course called the Battle Drome with five stages. The event is being hosted by the Bachax Posse and Direct Response Network.

Two hundred participants will face the starter in the preliminary stage on September 24 from 8 am. The top 40 athletes will qualify for a more challenging final on September 25 from 4 pm with the first place finisher being crowned the Trinidad Ultimate Ninja Warrior. Each competitor is allowed to have two of their supporters accompany them at the preliminaries, while the main event is open to the entire public.

Children Under-12 are free (two children per adult), while early bird tickets cost $200 and VIP tickets cost $500. For more information check www.

Ariella Ramkissoon, public relations officer of TUNW said the organisers are fans of the Ninja Warrior shows.

At the event’s launch at the Chaconia Hotel in Maraval yesterday, Ramkissoon stated, “like other Ninja Warrior competitions in the world TT ’s version is modelled after the original Japanese version as well as the other versions especially America which is the most popular.

We came up with the idea to have the Ninja Warrior here in Trinidad because we are all really huge fans of the show.

We figured it will have positive feedback because it is widely popular.

However we did not expect that after just one week of the soft launch on social media we will have 100,000 people visit the page.” The committee has goals of taking the competition to other parts of the Caribbean.

Ramkissoon explained, “one of the main goals of this event is to actually take Ninja Warrior up the islands like Barbados and Jamaica and eventually complete negotiations with Ninja Warrior International to have our competitors from here compete over there on an international stage.”
