TT bag five more gold at CRTTF Cadet tourney

The youngsters’ most recent performances at the tourney sent TT ’s overall gold medal tally to nine out of 10 contested events thus far.

TT missed out at producing a perfect sweep of all divisions as they settled for silver in the Under-11 Girls Doubles.

After being crowned champions in four Team Events (Boys and Girls Under-11 and Under-13) earlier this week, the youthful national contingent maintained their winning ways by bagging top honours in the Mixed Doubles (Under-11/Under-13); Boys and Girls Doubles (Under- 13) and Boys Doubles (Under-11).

In the Under-11 Mixed final, Luc O’Young and Priyanka Khellawan brushed aside compatriots Jalen Kerr/ Brianna Solomon 11-3, 11-9, 11-6. One age category up, Derron Douglas and Shreya Maharaj were crowned champions after trumping Guyana’s A Martin/K Ninvalle 11- 8, 11-8, 11-5.

In the Boys Under-13 Doubles title match, Messiah Walcott/ Douglas emerged 11-6, 11-7, 6-11, 11-9 winners over N Bissu/K Ninvalle (Guyana) while TT ’s Rayanna Boodhan/ Maharaj triumphed 3-1 (11-5, 11-5, 9-11, 13- 11) against M Clarkston/A Martin (Guyana) in the girls equivalent.

And in the Boys Under-11 Doubles final, O’Young/Kerr romped to an 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 victory over Jamaica’s D Jackson/J Butler. But, the TT girls missed out on pole position in this category as they went down to K Davidson/L Campbell (Jamaica) 3-2 (11- 8, 11-9, 9-11, 7-11, 11-8) in the gold medal match.
