Junior Pan Am Cycling starts today
The event, which will pit home team Trinidad and Tobago against junior cyclists from all over the Americas and the Caribbean, is poised to be the biggest cycling event ever hosted in the Caribbean’s most southern island.
Over 150 cyclists from over 15 countries will do battle on pristine boards in Couva.
The host nation will be represented by a youthful combination of talent who will grace the Velodrome in national colours for the first time.
Spearheading the charge for TT will be multiple Caribbean Junior Road champion Tyler Cole, Nicholas Paul, Jabari Whiteman, Chaquille Henry, Dean Woodsley, Lorenzo Orosco and female representatives Dominique Lovell and Jhordan St George.
Team TT , USA, Barbados, Suriname, St Lucia and Guyana have already put in their respective training sessions along the track and are geared up for today’s opening event, Men’s 4km Team Pursuit, which rides off with the qualifiers from noon.
The second session continues from 6 pm with the official opening ceremony followed by Women Team Sprint qualifiers and final; Men 10km Scratch final; Men 4km Team Pursuit final and the curtain event, Men Team Sprint qualifiers and final.
