Salsa flash mob at MovieTowne

Dancers from the Salsa Caribe TT Dance School, specialising in Cuban Salsa (Rueda de Casino), first pretended to be shoppers but then disrobed to uniformity and got down to some salsa dancing to Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando” before curious onlookers.

Keegan Denny, lead instructor of the dance school said afterwards: “It was the first ever ‘Rueda de Casino’ flash mob in the Southern, English-speaking Caribbean. My team and I have been in discourse over the past year in the execution of a “rueda” flash mob. This year we finally took up the mantle and placed our thoughts into actions and pulled it off.” He added: “It was a bit difficult given the time-frame of three weeks in which we wanted to execute, but the unreluctant members were up for the challenge. They practised and performed expertly while enjoying each beat and each word of the music.” Denny stated that one of their main goals at Salsa Caribe, and their slogan, is “Uniting Cultures through Music and Dance”. He said: “I always urge and encourage my students that no matter what you do or where you come from, dance is a universal language. It ignites a passion like no matter, especially when intertwined with complementary music. Never say “I cannot” or do not feel bad after trying and failing.
