How to achieve a flawless skin finish
Today we will be learning some tips and tricks for reviving tired, lackluster skin, and achieving a flawless finish, even with skin issues you might be experiencing.
This goes without saying, but drinking an adequate amount of water everyday will go a long way in plumping and hydrating the skin. It also aids in flushing toxins out of the system that can cause breakouts. The result should be a clear, glowing complexion.
Sticking to a skincare routine, utilising regular face masks, exfoliating, cleansing, toning and moisturising the skin will help to refine its texture greatly. Use an eye cream if you have any fine lines or wrinkles around your eyes. Unfortunately, reversing these concerns will be tough.
Prevention is key here, if you are lucky enough to not have these concerns yet. Thankfully, makeup can pick up the slack, when life gets in the way of us appearing to be the image of health, all the time. I always recommend priming the skin, to refine the skin texture and prolong the wear of your makeup. Opt for pore blurring primers if skin texture is your concern, or oil controlling primers if you tend to get shiny throughout the day, or hydrating primers if you find that your skin is dehydrated, and your makeup is prone to cracking and caking throughout the day.
Depending on your skin type, you may want to avoid certain types of makeup to achieve the optimal skin finish. For example, with drier skin, you should avoid powder products, as these can cling to dry patches and accentuate them. Opt for creamier, more hydrating products such as liquid or cream makeup.
Oilier skin will, however, benefit greatly from powder products. You may even want to keep a colorless blotting powder in your purse for touch ups throughout the day. Another thing to note would be to use light layers and build gradually, rather than opting for full coverage to mask the entire skin immediately.
Especially if you have relatively clear skin, and just need to cover a scar or blemish. The skin will look a lot more natural if you can actually see it through your foundation. So use a thin layer of lightweight foundation and a full coverage concealer, only on areas where you need it.
The skin will look naturally perfect as opposed to completely covered in a solid mask of makeup.
Not to mention, lighter coverage foundation is more forgiving, and will be easier to match your skin tone.
If you have textured skin, you’ll want to avoid excessively shimmery face products such as blush, bronzer and highlighter as these will just draw attention to your skin texture. Instead, opt for finely milled highlighting powders such as Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powders, or dewy finish setting sprays to add a glow to your skin.
If you absolutely must use shimmery products, only apply it to areas where there isn’t too much texture; for example, highlight on the cheekbones should be fine since it’s a relatively smooth area, but if you have enlarged pores on your cheeks, shimmery blush or bronzer will just accentuate your pores.
So apply a matte blush to your cheeks instead, and shimmering highlight to your cheekbones for a glowing effect. These tips, in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, should help you achieve a flawless, glowing complexion and skin finish.
