Skeletal remains found in Penal forest
They also found an animal skull, police said.
According to a police report, at about 2.30 pm on Monday, Mitra Sahadeosingh, and Brandon Basdeo, both of Gopee Trace Penal and Rikki Sahadeosingh of Ridgewood Gardens, Penal, went into a forested area at Scotts Road, Penal to cut soharee leaves. About one and a half miles into the forest, the trio observed what appeared to be the skull,ribs and other bones of a human next to which was the skull of an animal. The matter was reported to the Penal Police Station and a team of officers visited the scene.
The bones were later removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
An autopsy is expected to be done to determine cause of death and also gender. This is the second discovery of human remains deep in the Penal forest in the last two weeks. On October 13, skeletal remains of what is believed to be a woman was found in the forest at Bunsee Trace, Penal __ on the ankle was a tattoo of a spider web.
