Taxi driver shot in La Romaine

Police believe the shooting may have stemmed from an incident two months ago involving a woman who had been heckled by a group of male taxi drivers.

Since the incident, colleagues said McEachrane had been receiving death threats but never took them seriously as he claimed he “did not laugh at her.” According to reports, at about 12.30 am, McEachrane of La Romaine was seated in his Nissan Almera car at Gulf View Link Road, La Romaine awaiting a passenger when he was approached by a man dressed in dark clothing.

Following an argument, the assailant pulled out a gun and shot McEachrane in his stomach before escaping. The wounded man managed to drive himself to the hospital where he was treated and warded.
