Ken and Crew to launch at Jazz Night

Led by master percussionist Kenneth Clarke, a man with over 50 years in the business and ably assisted by arranger/ composer/producer keyboardist Godwin Bowen, Ken and Crew has the hallmark of success written all over it.

Add bassist Oslyn Pompie to the mix, a man with well over 40 years in music and the picture is almost complete.

With both Clarke and Bowen’s involvement in pan it is only natural that the national musical instrument, the steelpan, will be a feature in the band. Who better than veteran Panorama arranger/composer/ recording artiste Earl Brooks could fill that slot. Together they make up the core of the band.

To add variety Clarke has included Leon Moore a harmonica player with several years of experience and is still in the process of mastering his instrument.

The only female in the band is vocalist Kadija Jeremiah who is currently pursuing a BFA in Performing Arts in Voice at Costatt and performs with her band Street Sweepers and Vizion Musiq Entertainment.

It is interesting that the first song I heard in the band room in Enterprise was “How Great Thou Art” and also met Prophet Benjamin who dropped in to take in the rehearsal.

Ken and Crew will be officially launched as part of the Jazz Nights on Monday at Rush Sports Bar in Tacarigua. The live performance starts at 9 pm and will feature guest artist Prophet Benjamin.
