Teen hangs himself

Speaking at the Forensic Science Centre, Newsday was told that in a conversation they had before they went to sleep, Malone told his mother if he were gone permanently, she would be happier because she would have, “one less mouth to feed”. Little did the grieving mother know, that he would take his own life hours later. “He was telling me, ‘Mammy look at how much stress you going through and I cannot help’. He was always saying, ‘mammy we don’t have any money’,” said Paula Williams.

She went to sleep Thursday night, thinking nothing of the conversation that they had earlier, but woke up a few hours later and noticed that he was not in his bed. She at first thought that he was in the bathroom and noticed the light in her brother’s room. When she went to turn the light off, she found her son’s body.

Along with being a Form Three student at Five Rivers Secondary, Malone also worked on weekends at Pennywise.

Malone’s death has left the entire family in shock. Williams told reporters he was the first of her five children. “I am so confused, I don’t know what to think. I don’t know why he did this,” Williams cried.

“If he was hurting so much, why didn’t he come and talk to me. He had so many plans, but he just come and leave me just so.”
