The real problem is the shift system

The student body of the Princes Town Presbyterian Primary School #1 presently shares the compound of the Princes Town Presbyterian Primary School #2 at St Julien village, Princes Town.

“We were in talks with the Ministry (of Education) to get a temporary solution to end the shift problem,” Mulchan said adding, “the shift problem could have been ended without having to spend whatever millions to build that new school.” He said the ministry has to come on the site for project management and soil testing which will take a while.

Mulchan noted that the Board was never against the construction of a new school but pointed out that unlike the New Grant Anglican primary school which had a student population of 200, the Princes Town Presbyterian primary school #1 has a capacity of 600 students.

“There was never any objection to the Ministry of Education proposal to build a new school but this is not a school like New Grant Anglican where is flat land and this school is a 600 capacity school as opposed to a 200 capacity school,’ he said.
