Shot man bites police officer at Hospital

It was reported that the 21-year-old man became enraged and assaulted the officer.

According to a police report, at about 8 pm last Friday, the suspect of Sixth Company Circular Road, New Grant was at Fort George Road when he had an altercation with another man.

The suspect, the report continued, hit the man in the head with a bottle causing him to collapse.

The injured man’s friend who witnessed the incident left and returned with a gun and shot the suspect twice.

The wounded man was rushed to hospital where he was treated and warded under police guard.

Police said that doctors, seeking to give further treatment to the wounded suspect, requested police to remove the handcuff.

The suspect however began fighting with PC John during which time he bit him.

A report on the biting incident was later made to the San Fernando Police Station by PC John and investigations are continuing.

The wounded man, up to press time, remained warded under armed police guard at the hospital.
