Man attacked with weed whacker on Divali night
According to reports Hudson Mc Lutchie of Cumana, Toco, was liming with friends and relatives at his home on Saturday night when he observed that one of his guests, a 45-year-old fellow villager was misbehaving and appeared to be intoxicated. According to report s Mc Lutchie asked the man several times to desist from his outrageous behaviour but the man continued.
At about 11 pm Mc Lutchie became outraged that his guests were becoming uncomfortable and asked the man to leave. The intoxicated man left the party, cursing and issuing threats. According to reports he returned about 15 minutes later armed with a weed whacker with a blade attached to the equipment. Police sources revealed that the intoxicated man started the weed whacker and hit Mc Lutchie cutting him on the left hand.
Stunned guests managed to overpower the suspect and prevented Mc Lutchie from further injury. The suspect was taken to the Toco Police Station while Mc Lutchie was rushed to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery early on Sunday morning.
The victim was listed in a stable but serious condition while the suspect was being interviewed at the Toco Police Station yesterday.
Newsday understands that charges are expected to be laid by Sgt Edwards of the Toco Police Station.
