Student, 15, raped

According to reports a 3.15 pm on Monday, the student who lives in Northern Trinidad boarded a taxi in St James and asked to be taken to Port-of-Spain.

The driver instead drove to a bushy area in the vicinity of the Mucurapo mosque where he sexually assaulted her.

After completing the rape act the man ordered the student to remain in the vehicle but as he was driving away the victim managed to jump out of the car and escaped.

The girl went to the St James police station where she made a report and was medically examined by a District Medical Officer.

A description was given to the officers and a sketch of the suspect was circulated to police stations in the Western Division.

WPC Eccles is continuing enquiries.

A day earlier, a 16-year-old female walked into a police station in Central Trinidad accompanied by her mother and reported that she was sexually assaulted by a man known to her some time in August.

The girl told officers that in August she was at her home when she was accosted by the man who grievously sexually assaulted her.

She also claimed that the man attempted to sexually penetrate her but she managed to ward him off.

She said the attacker also attempted to sodomise her.

Officers of the Child Protection Unit were alerted and the schoolgirl was interviewed.

Newsday understands that an arrest is imminent.
