Cabinet reshuffle concerns Roget
“The new Minister of Energy we have some serious concerns with that individual,” Roget said, adding, “that new Minister has a history that would have been captured in his employment at Petrotrin, and our position back then regarding him, still is our position now.” “We are prepared to look scrupulously, meticulously and pay close attention and I want to sound a warning to the new Minister of Energy, we will be watching. We are not prepared, at this point, and we never will be prepared to accept anybody in any ministry that would see the giveaway of the national patrimoney, the giveaway of what is owned by the people,” Roget said. He spoke at the Otaheite, South Oropouche strike camp of Inland/Offshore Contractors Limited (IOCL) workers who are on day 14 of a 90-day strike.
Regarding the Minister of Public Utilities, a smiling Roget said while the umbrella labour organization was “happy and elated to see the back of Minster Ancil Antoine”, he warned that Minister Hinds should do “less talking and much more listening.” “Antoine’s replacement, that fellar speaks and speaks and speaks and speaks. He would do well to do much less talking and much more listening and much more doing,” Roget said
