Man shot at ‘Cocaine Alley’
Newsday understands, at about 9.15 pm on Tuesday, Jason Campbell, a 27-year-old man of Upper Union Road, Diego Martin, was sitting along Jeffers Lane gambling with a group of men. Suddenly, an unknown assailant, said to be of African descent, with dark skin and a green bandanna over his face, approached the group and fired. While the men scampered to find cover, Campbell was shot several times about the upper body.
Police and emergency services were called and Campbell was rushed to the St James Medical Facility, where he was treated for his injuries. Newsday understands that up to press time he was warded in a serious but stable condition.
Police are now trying to ascertain a motive for the shooting, as Campbell was not known to them.
Investigations are ongoing.
