Making timely govt changes
Olivierre had responsibility for energy and Antoine for public utilities.
Numerous oil spills and poor handling of affected residents may have lead to the Energy Minister’s demise. We cannot blame her for the low oil price.
Energy’s new leader is the former Minister of Local Government, Franklyn Khan, who should have been first choice as Energy Minister. His oilfield experience cannot be questioned.
Under the Patrick Manning administration he should have been Energy Minister. Ah well, better late than never.
Antoine has been replaced by “true” politician Fitzgerald Hinds, who held the Works and Transport post.
Kazim Hosein is now the Minister of Local Government. The qualifications and experience of the former mayor of San Fernando make him aptly suited to this post. Rohan Sinanan is now the Minister of Works and Transport.
I wish the new appointees well.
One must be wise to make changes before the 90th minute.
