Makeup organisation &storage

So, how can we organize our makeup collection? I’ve compiled a few of my favourite methods of storing makeup, and will be including some great tips on maximizing small spaces! The best way I’ve found to store most makeup items is in clear, acrylic organizers. This allows your makeup to be seen clearly, so you can save time guessing where you put something.

It helps to actually categorize your items, so keep all your lip products together, face products together, eyeshadows together etc. If you have a particularly large collection, break it down further.

So, for example, split your face products into foundation, blush, bronzer, highlight and so on, keeping each category in its own place.

Mason jars are an excellent way to store items such as pencils, tools and brushes. You can repurpose glass jars by removing the sticker and cleaning it thoroughly with soap and boiling water.

If you want it to match your room, you can tie a ribbon or strip of fabric around the neck of the jar. Feel free to get creative with decorating your mason jars. If you want to store cotton or cotton buds, be sure to cover the jar with the lid to keep dust out.

If you have large palettes, you can either store them upright like books on a shelf, or stack them like magazines on your desk. Alternately, you can store them upright in a napkin holder or letter organizer for a neater and more accessible appearance.

If you have limited desk space, these next few tips can help you to make the most of it. A lazy susan makeup organizer can help you to save space, especially if you have a lot of loose bottles or jars strewn across your counter. That can create quite an untidy look, and you probably end up accidentally knocking things over while searching for particular items. A lazy susan will give you access to all your products with ease.

Another way you can maximize a small space is with shelving. Shelves will be great for items that you don’t use every day. You want them to be accessible when you decide to use them, but you don’t want them in the way on a daily basis.

Items like nail polish, perfumes that you don’t use daily, palettes that you don’t use often and other similar items. Shelves are also a great place to put decorative items such as framed photos and candles.

The last space saving tip is a “Do-It-Yourself” item.

Magnet boards have gained a lot of popularity over the years, because they can be customized to suit any space, and they’re generally pretty easy to make. You’ll need a picture frame, a thin sheet of metal to _ t the inside of the frame, straight cutting shears if you need to cut the metal, fabric to cover it, a hot glue gun, small magnets to attach to your makeup items and rubbing alcohol.

If you don’t have the appropriate tools to cut a metal sheet to _ t in your picture frame, alternately, you can use a metal cookie sheet, and cover it with fabric for a similar effect. The size you use will depend on how much makeup you want to display.

Use an appropriate glue to adhere the fabric to the metal sheet, ensuring you pull the fabric taut for a smooth _ nish. Place the covered metal sheet inside the picture frame and use your preferred method of hanging or adhering your creation to the wall.

Next, wipe down your makeup products of choice with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue. Attach magnets to the back of your makeup items with hot glue; use more than one magnet if it’s a large or heavy product. Now you’re ready to arrange your makeup for easy access!
