2 more killed
Sources said the victim, 33-yearold Clint Ellis, was outside his home washing a black Nissan B14 motor vehicle when two men who were both armed with firearms reportedly began firing randomly.
Persons who were with Ellis ran for cover and the two gunmen focussed their attentions on Ellis, shooting at him repeatedly, before fleeing the scene in the Black Nissan B14 motor vehicle which was being washed.
The 33-year-old ran a short distance away before collapsing. The police and Emergency Health Services were notified and the wounded man was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police said Ellis was known to them as a suspect in several criminal related activities. A team of officers from the St Joseph Police Station, led by Snr Sup Jacob, with assistance from ASP Khanhai, Inspector Hernandez, Sgt Katwaroo, Cpl Anderson, PC Baksh, PC Birbal, PC Cyrus and PC Superville, among several others, visited the scene. Earlier yesterday, a farmer made a gruesome discovery of the body of a man lying on the ground at about 6:00 am when he entered his garden off the Maracas Royal Road, St Joseph.The identity of the man is not yet known.
The man was said to have a head wound, and there were bullet shells next to the body.
BREAKING NEWS: Late yesterday, police reported a road fatality in the Chaguanas district, close to the Divali Nagar site.
Preliminary reports are that a Nissan Almera with four occupants were heading south-bound on the Uriah Butler Highway when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses said the driver was speeding before he slammed into a tree. Police were on the scene late yesterday and the identity of the man was not yet known. The Jaws of Life had to be used to remove the body from the vehicle.
The three others were taken to hospital.
