Students shine at the Eternal Light Vocational School
The school also enrols differently-abled students, who are said to have big hearts and are very well behaved as they strive to excel at their school work.
For the past few months, the school embarked on a literary competition in which 19 students participated.
The programme, which was organised and planned by volunteer facilitator Joan Porter-Patterson was designed to encourage and motivate the youths to read more and also enhance their spelling and writing capabilities.
The programme consisted of book reading; poetry writing; short stories and spelling. The students were graded based on quizzes during the period and the result was increased vocabulary and comprehension skills.
Porter-Patterson, a former school principal now health consultant and author, planned the programme along with a committee she spearheaded.
