Global Services Promotion Programme
For this reason, Robinson- Regis said, it is essential to capitalise on the opportunity presented to the country in the form of the GSSP. “At the height of its (GSSP) execution,” she said, “it will offer a multitude of opportunities for employment and for business creation.” She continued that, “the programme intends to combine the strengths and capabilities of both the public and private sectors toward improved ICT (Information and Communication Technology) service delivery and exports locally, regionally and internationally.
“These sectors will therefore be provided with innovative methods to develop human capital, re-imagine export strategies, and stimulate investment.” Ultimately, Robinson-Regis stated, the GSSP is focused on helping with the economic transformation agenda of Trinidad and Tobago.
Another goal of the GSSP is to develop the IT sector so that in the future, these services could be exported, thus becoming a significant source of revenue for the country. Robinson-Regis also said that as the country progresses, more private sector involvement is needed in programmes like the GSSP and less government involvement. The launch took place at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
Attendees included Minister of Trade, Paula Gopee-Scoon and Public Administration and Communications Minister, Maxie Cuffie.
