Police win Courts netball thriller

The Policewomen and the university women were locked 7-7 at the end of the opening quarter of Sunday’s game, but Police pulled away scoring 11 goals to UTT ’s five for an 18-12 half-time lead

The UTT women increased their effort in the third quarter and outscored Police 13-7 to take a surprising lead at the end of the third stanza

And there were thrills and spills in the fourth period as the teams battled for supremacy

Police presented a tighter defence and with national utility player Joelisa Cooper scoring 24 of 31 attempts, they outscored UTT 12-7 to grab the victory despite veteran national player Anastascia Wilson scoring 20 goals from her 30 attempts

Jesselle Navarro added five goals from seven attempts and Tahiraha Holilingsworth four of eight for the policewomen while both Kemesha Greenidge and Daystar Swift got six goals each for the university

In the other Premiership game, Fire whipped UWI 43-27 behind Jameela McCarthy scoring 35 of 45 attempts while Aquila Blugh and Simone Morgan scored four goals each. Akeela Rodriguez had 15 goals and Tiana Dillon 12 for the university
