Father of three charged with car stealing

The charge was laid indictably and Noel was not called upon to enter a plea.

It is alleged that he stole the vehicle near the Gulf View area in La Romaine. Attorney Frank Gittens said his client is a self-employed mechanic. The attorney said Noel is the father of three girls aged two, six and 13 years.

Noel is also the sole breadwinner of his family. The court also heard that Noel has a larceny charge and a charge of attempted murder pending.

Court prosecutor Cleyon Seedan in objecting to bail, said Noel committed the alleged offence while out on bail for other unrelated charges. Attorney Gittens alleged his client was beaten by police officers and was not taken for medical attention. However, prosecutor Seedan said this allegation was false and Noel injured himself while lifting heavy machinery.

The magistrate ordered that Noel be medically examined.

She adjourned the case to May 5.
