Sports Minister pays tribute to Prince Bartholomew

Bartholomew, an all-rounder, played 57 First-Class matches for Trinidad and Tobago, taking 141 wickets while scoring 1598 runs at an average of 23.85. He scored nine half-centuries and a top score of 95 not out.

Smith said Bartholomew has left an indelible mark in West Indies cricket and was an outstanding sportsman while leading his team to victory on several occasions.

He said Bartholomew also coached and mentored a number of young players which has been integral in the longevity and development of the sport. Smith believes this country needs more sportsmen like Bartholomew that are willing to devote their time in mentoring our nation’s youth and serving others.

“The purpose of life is to serve, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to make a difference and to live well. He dedicated his time in serving others and will be remembered for his hard work and contributions to the sport. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time. May his soul rest in peace,” Smith said in a press release issued by the Ministry of Sport.
